In terms of acting though, her name might have too close an association to Disney after three High School Musicals. Last summer she was in a coming-of-age misfit movie called BandSlam. A step away from typecasting but not a very big step. Did hudgens defy typecasting in bandslam? Probably-but only people that see the movie would realize this. To others the name might as well be high School musical 4.

I think what really got Hudgens on a lot of people’s radar were her nude picture scandals. She handled the first nude pic scandal in a particularly impressive way too. She didn’t regret taking the pics but rather the fact that they were leaked. It’s edginess like that that is making her increasingly popular to a non-Disney, non-female audience.

Hudgen’s aligned herself with a corner stone of urban culture in 2007, Ecko; a partnership that has been a huge success for both parties.

I think that 2011’s Suckerpunch is going to be the biggest shift in her fast-paced career.
